linmon


SYNOPSIS

linmon [-w color] [-e color] [-u color] [-n color] [-c config_file]


DESCRIPTION

LINux MONitor is apllication for online system performance monitoring. linmon uses terminal user interface (TUI). Main reason for using terminal UI is lower overhead than Graphical UI (i.e. X-Windows). Screen is divided ito two parts. First part contains general system performance info:

System informations
This panel contains system informations: system name, version ... same as for uname -a command. Current system time and uptime.

CPU utilization
This panel contains these metrics in percentage: user time, nice time, system time and idle time. These metrics are available in two lines: current from last sample interval total from system start.

Load average
This panel contains average run queue for last 1, 5, and 15 minutes.

Note: next panels are switchable using specified key.

OPTIONS

-w color
Background and foreground colors for warning values. Not yet implemented

-e color
Background and foreground colors for error values. Not yet implemented

-u color
Background and foreground colors for unknown values. Not yet implemented

-n color
Background and foreground colors for normal values. Not yet implemented

-c config_file
Use alternative linmon's configuration file. Default is /etc/linmon.cfg.

-h
Displays a help information. I'm affraid that is not completed yet

-B
Program can't be stopped using Ctrl+C or equivalent kill. This prevents accidentally stopped monitoring.

-M
Starts linmon in monochrome (black & white) mode.

During refreshing whole screen is repainted. Normally are repainted only differences.

-D dump_file
Dumps a configuration into file.


RETURN VALUE

Program's return value is not fixed yet.
